Last wednesday, I drove my kuya to the airport, well, he drove, using our car since we were going to work after. Those who know my kuya wouldn't be surprised if I told them that driving at 150kph along NLEX is 'normal' to him. So it was kuya, ep, me and sunshine (sunshine and me were at the back), and I can feel her squeezing my hand in response to my kuya's driving ways. As for myself, i was fiddling around with my iPod just to take my mind away on how my kuya was running our brand new car to the ground. As I was looking for a calming song to play, I asked myself, why don't I just tell my kuya to slow down? but that thought vanished from my mind as quickly as it flashed in. my kuya wouldn't listen, especially when it comes to cars, simply because that's the way he is, and in some perverted idolistic view, we (me and ep) like him that way, and its fun trying to make him slow down. during car rides with the whole family when he's driving, we would come up with stupid reasons just to make him slow down, like : "kuya, nahihilo na ako", "kuya, bakit parang nakahinto yung mga sasakyan? ay, mabilis lang pala tayo", "kuya, di ako makainom ng tubig, tumatapon eh", the most recent one i came up with is "kuya, di ka ba natatakot? ako kasi takot na eh" well, chalk up one more car to his list of 150kph and over. he's in palawan with happy until sunday, after which, i hope he won't be calling me to pick him up from the airport! Once again, it's the season to be jolly, you can feel it in the chilly breeze in the mornings, hearing christmas songs on the radio and the @#%!!@# traffic plus the long queues of parking lots. Yes, it is christmas season already. One thing of relevance to me during the christmas season are the christmas parties all around and the food that comes with it, but enough of that already. I was supposed to attend the Thomson christmas party at the PICC last saturday, but my wife was able to 'dissuade' me from going, so I stayed home and sang 'Jing-gam Bells' with Maxine, after which, I was back to my daily routine of playing PC games until around 12pm. The following day, my Bads (JohnD) texted me asking for my email address, and saying something about the Thomson party. I knew at that point that it was not going to be good. When I opened my email this morning, I was able to read his email and was quite sad to find out that the Thomson party wasn't good. Well, I know that the 'quality' of the Thomson party was on a downward spiral starting 2004 (due to the ever increasing number of employees), but I never imagined it would hit rock bottom this year. One thing that John mentioned was the lack of the 'quality' people in the party (I'm assuming he is pertaining to us, the old people, the ones in his age bracket). Yes, it is sad, I know I would be if I were in his place. Going to a party with 70% of the people being strangers. Maybe its just starting to sink in for him, that most of his friends already left. Well, that's life, what's important is, with his email, he was able to reach out to us, and he knows that we're just an email or a text message away. As for me, it's my turn to be in a party where 80% of the people are strangers to me, being fairly new and all to Emerson. I'm just counting on my 'Clique' to be there and raise hell as much as we could, and start building the reputation that I'm known for. I'm holding no expectations for that party, just hoping that I will be able to enjoy it. Did I mention that I was assigned the lead role for our department's presentation? Farewell Kiray... Kiray (our dog that I kidnapped from my dad's house and brought to mine) died last friday night. Dad accidentally ran over her over a week ago. The sad part is she just gave birth to 6 pups 2 weeks ago. My Dad and I buried her early saturday morning. The funny thing is, that friday night, I had to bottle feed the 6 pups and right after that it was Maxine's turn, this went on for the entire saturday night to early sunday morning, so you can just imagine how much sleep I lost this last weekend. I brought the pups to my Dad's house monday morning and they will stay there until they're big enough for us to give them away. :( Welcome Kiki... We were able to get our own car last Nov. 16, and my wife named it Kiki since it is a Kia (Carens 2.0 LX A/T CRDi). Choosing a car was a long, tedious and painful process for me, especially with my Dad and Kuya breathing down my neck with regards to what car to buy. Dad was saying Kia cars aren't durable, an Innova is better, blah, blah, blah, with Kuya is basically saying the same thing. Although I have practically read through all the articles I can find about the Kia Carens (Kia Rondo in North America) on the internet which ALL of them being positive, I oftentimes found myself doubting if I did research enough about that car or did I miss something very important for my Dad and Kuya to keep on dissuading me from buying that car. I found one post in Tsikot.com talking about Filipinos and how important a brand is, Filipinos basically buy things that have good brand names (I myself am guilty of this), and Kia is very much a victim of this (although they really had crappy cars back in those days). So yeah, we finally bought it and I wasn't surprised on how good it performed, because I know it is a good car, driving it home really made me feel great, knowing that I did enough researching and reading and that lead to a good decision. So far, its doing 11.7 km/liter is very comfortable to drive. Did I mention its blue??? Anyways, this is my first BLOG ever, and hopefully I will have time to post more. Next post should be about PC games released this quarter and how it affects (will affect) my relationship with my wife. Again, farewell Kiray, and welcome home Kiki...
